Primary 1 Transition

We look forward to starting transition with all our August 2026 new P1's after the Easter holiday. We are waiting for our finalised P1 list from Midlothian Council and will then be in touch to arrange visits. In the meantime, please look through the transition dates below and read the social story below to find out all about P1 at Hawthornden.

While we still wait for a final list from Midlothian Council, here are some transition dates for your diary:

• Monday 11th May 1.30-2.30pm - a play session in our P1 classroom with some current P1 pupils - for Mount Esk children only.

• Monday 18th May 3.00-3.45pm - a drop in session for all parents and new P1 children to look round our school and play in a P1 classroom.

• Monday 25th May 1.30-2.30pm - a play session in our P1 classroom with some current P1 pupils - for children from other nurseries/child care only (not Mount Esk).

• Thursday 11th June 9.15-10.30am - a chance for all new P1s to meet together with their new P1 class and their new teacher, all parents/carers to attend for an information session with the head teacher or depute.

Once we receive our finalised P1 list, we will send this information to you directly.
