Welcome to Hawthornden Primary School

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Hawthornden Primary School website. We are excited to give you a glimpse into our school. Whether you are a pupil, parent/carer or a member of our community, I hope you will see how we strive to fill our school with kindness, enjoyment and learning.

Hawthornden Primary School opened on April 23, 1969 and has been flourishing ever since. We take pride in being an active part of our local community in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian. Just a short journey outside Edinburgh we always try to make the most of our local surroundings. Whether it’s going to local farms, walking round our local houses, visiting our local library or even going into Edinburgh itself, we make sure our learners are as much as part of our local community while they are in school, as when they are at home. We are always progressing the educational journey of our learners at Hawthornden, which is taken further when our young people move up to Lasswade High School to continue their journey.
